Multithreading in Windows Phone 7 emulator: A bug

Multithreading is supported in Windows Phone 7 Silverlight applications, however the emulator has a bug (which I discovered and was confirmed to me by the dev lead of the emulator team): If you attempt to start a background thread in the MainPage constructor, the thread never starts. The reason is a problem with the emulator UI thread which doesn’t leave any time to the background thread to start.

As an open source mobile operating system that uses a modified version of the Linux kernel, Google Android’s philosophy is to release early and iterate often. With a rapid relese cycle, there are seven versions of Android platforms and SDK releases now, accompanied by a lot of Android books for developers. But all of them are Android 1.x books, for Android 2.x, till this month, three Android 2.x books are available, below is the details of them.

Being Rejected

Tonight I got an email from Apple telling me that they have rejected Doublemill Lite! Although it is kind of annoying, the email was somewhat clear on what I need to to do to fix the problem. It even had a screenshot attached, pointing out what my mistake was - if it really was one.

Windows Phone 7 Series, Initial Developer Impressions

Windows Phone 7 Series (hereafter I'll just call it WP7) debuted a while ago at a press event but it's true coming out party was this past week at MIX 2010. This conference is a designer-developer hybrid conference and, of all the Microsoft development conferences I've ever attended, this has consistently been the most informative and exciting of the bunch.
