Google+ for Android: polish and performance

We continue to work toward a simpler, more beautiful Google, and today we're accelerating these efforts with a new Google+ app for Android phones. The update includes lots of highly-requested features—like the ability to start a hangout on the go, and to edit posts inline—as well as a stream that celebrates the rich content shared across Google+. In all cases we're building for a mobile future, and we're excited about what's ahead.

Delivering Enterprise Android Applications Continuously

Continuous Delivery (CD) makes sense on so many levels that I’m not even going try to restate its benefits. There have also been reams written on achieving continuous delivery when you’re in the business of developing, say, web apps. However, there is far less on the continuous delivery of private enterprise Android applications.

PLog - display the log messages of Android applications

Although PLog is somehow duplicated to ddms tool, it is still unique. Moreover, it has the convenient function to get stack trace when the application crashes, so it might be even more helpful.

Why this tool was created when we have ddms?

- Because it's hard to select log text in ddms (need to copy and paste to Notepad).

- Because ddms sometimes crashes / freezes if the log becomes too long. This tool is more stable.

Please give it a try. Any feedback are welcomed.

Building Twilio Client for Android

Building software for a client-side device is quite a bit different than building for the cloud. In the cloud, deployment intervals are measured in days, and sometimes hours. But when you're installing software to potentially millions of users' devices, upgrade cycles turn into weeks, months, and in some cases even years. In this post, I'll talk about challenges related to application lifecycle and incoming call handling on Android.

What was Larry Ellison thinking in Java Android lawsuit?

IT SEEMS that Oracle's lawsuit against Google over its use of Java in Android has fallen apart. Although the trial is still ongoing, and the judge has yet to hand down an important copyright ruling while the jury has yet to return its verdicts on patents and damages, if any - it's already apparent that Oracle is unlikely to win billions or even millions of dollars from Google, and it's possible that Oracle might lose entirely.

Android ActionBar Tutorial

Hello, this is a tutorial introducing the ActionBar that was introduced in Android 3.0. It is a menu bar that is positioned at the top of the screen and is used as a replacement for the title bar. Google is really pushing developers to use ActionBars and move away from using the hardware menu button.

To get started, create a new project called ActionBarTutorial, with a MainActivity ,and a target version of 4.0.3 or 3.0.
