The Adobe Flash Player is a multimedia application created by Macromedia (now a division of Adobe Systems). If you’re reading this website, you probably know all of this. What you might not know is that Flash sucks. It is the bane of the Internet, and it needs to go away.

Hear hear! It's fine for rich media players (audio, video) and for the odd game.
But as a user interface, Flash (including Flex) is evil.

The argument about whether Flash should be used or not is already over, given its market penetration and presence on major websites like YouTube. Not to mention this isn't a particularly insightful article: people (and when I say people, I mean Jakob Neilsen) have been making these arguments against Flash for ten years.
If you're trying to pound nails, you might think a screwdriver sucks, but that doesn't mean it's completely worthless.

After reading the article, I realize I was a little too hasty in not agreeing, it’s pretty well written and some really REALLY good points, and probably worthwhile for a good number of people who are going to use Flash.
but I think it’s not really not the tool, but the person implementing. The article does mention this point but is really strongly negative…

I routinely Adblock _all_ flash adverts, in firefox, because the distracting animations piss me off, I even sanitise hardware driver sites, I look on flash as a plague which makes sites counter intuitive to use and slows down browsing, plenty can still be done in DHTML, so there is no real need for flash.
