You can kind of compare FlexiScale to Amazon EC2, but they have solved a few (if you'd ask be, big) problems. I've followed EC2 with great interest, but the fact that they don't give you a fixed IP or persistent storage without making some "hack" with S3 or any SLA have lowered my excitement.
