Stallman is rigtht. Ubuntu is wrong to collect your personal information, without your permission, to make money from Amazon. This "feature" should be turned off by default. Ubuntu should respect and protect user privacy. Otherwise, users will switch to Linux distributions that do.

From the Article: """ Unfortunately, Bacon continued, "as far as Richard is concerned, if Ubuntu doesn’t meet his specific requirements around privacy or Free Software, irrespective that it has brought Free Software to millions of users and thousands of organizations, and despite the fact that you might not share his viewpoint, you should shun it. This just seems a bit childish to me." """ If Ubuntu doesn't meet the specific requirements around privacy or Free Software, it's no more Free Software. And it's unlikely you can win an argument with the very person that defined those requirements, because you'll be wrong by definition. While Ubuntu's contributions may be very important, RMS points a serious problem that must be addressed, not downplayed. It's Bacon that is muddling facts and definitions, not RMS.
