Well written article, although I don't see anything but added support for OSX everywhere I look.
I think the primary reason why Mac hasn't seen more adoption is the lack of support for business packages (other than MS Office), and the price. Businesses will continue to spend the least amount possible on new hardware, which means buying PCs.
Ubuntu is the clear alternative that both companies should be thinking about, since it's free and getting better all the time.

Well, Apple's computer marketshare has been rising consistently 25% for the past few years.
One of the reasons for this is growing developer mindshare Apple has, since Apple's transition to the Darwin kernel. Given the popularity of open source Nix servers (linux, bsd, ...), a large number of developers want their development environment to closer match their deployment environment (the biggest annoyance developing on Window being the difference in filesystem structure and stability in general) while being able to run MS Office. Plus you get the added benefit of better stability and (this maybe open to debate) better usability than most linux distros.
I can understand this article being written a few years back (I'm a recent Windows to Mac convert), but it really doesn't reflect reality anymore.
This post reminds me of Michael Dell's call / joke for Steve Jobs to shutdown Apple and give the money back to shareholders a few years back - Dell is eating his words now.
Apple's marketshare has been rising consistantly 25% for the past few years? Could you please provide a link to the place where you got that voodoo statistic from? AFAIK, Apple is continuing to lose more and more marketshare every year, and any report that has tried to show Apple gaining marketshare has been throughly debunked as having played with the numbers (ie, taking one month out of the year and saying Apple gained marketshare, when every other month they lost marketshare, so still ended up with a net loss.
So please, if you can back up that 25% marketshare gain claim, I would love to see what report you based it on.
That article talks about Apple's share compared to PC vendors when it comes to sales. Not Apple's overall marketshare when it comes to the Windows / OS X / Linux desktop market. When you consider the fact that there are 100s of PC vendors, Apple's overall marketshare turns out to be around 1.5% and falling. In fact, Apples desktop marketshare has dropped below Linux. That's not good news for Apple as far as long term health of the OS X platform.
