Google has announced its new project Google Chrome Native Client. This is a mega news. It is in early production development phase. Now, any software can be run at client machine using client resources say CPU etc. You can also participate in this project.

I don't know yet for the linked article, but the blurb here is confusing... I don't see the difference with regular offline software.
OK, I see, that's running an application in a browser as native software but in a secured way. Speed without the risk. Interesting. Frightening... (crackers will search for security holes, of course!) :-)

So let me get this straight: ability to run architecture specific (x86) code through a browser specific (Chrome only) plugin? Is this 1994 or what?
Wait, if this works out well the next thing would be to create a technology that is platform and browser independent.

I have to concur with you guys. I don't like this notion at all. It seems a lot like ActiveX... but this time with a security model. JavaScript and Cross-site script hacks give us enough security headaches. I don't want this.
I was just praising Chrome for have zero, zip, ziltch, nada, nothing, null, nill in the way of browser plugins and browser help objects. That is the way I like it. This is the way it aught to be. There are a pestilence of toolbars and plugins for every other browser. Chrome is the only Garden of Eden where this form of corruption has not yet emerged. Now they are going to spoil it.
