Google provided a patch for WebKit for multiple language support: Dart could run native on it. Still it is a long way to go - but it seems development can start on a branch.

Google is trying to break the JavaScript death grip. The big players, Microsoft and Apple, like the flawed JavaScript language. JavaScript makes it hard to write and maintain high quality browser based apps. This forces developers to write to native apps, which is exactly what Apple and Microsoft want.

Google wants to add a *multiple language* VM to WebKit. It would run many mainstream languages, i.e. Ruby, Python, Dart. If Google succeeds, developers will finally have a choice of languages to program web pages! Developers and the market place will decide which languages are best.
