Google has published code for Java to reduce the amount of hand coding needed for commonly occurring or popular features in applications.

Not voting down Google Collections, which I like.. but voting down this article for having about 2-1 (or more) ratio of advertising to content. The short, mostly content-free, article smells quite spammy to me in that context.

I usually comment on my down votes because it's often not clear why someone votes an article up or down. Often, it seems people's votes are related to whether or not they agree with the topic of the headline rather than the quality of the article. My vote represents whether I'd recommend the article as being useful to developer friends, independent of the topic.
