Computing evolved with Desktop computing and then web apps. Browser Based apps are always slow and faulty, they can never as robust as a desktop can be.
After The invention of web services and REST API, I would love to see web enabled desktop Apps.
I love the concept of Portable Apps , When we mix concept of portable Apps and Cloud Based storage, we can achieve much better results. BUT Google will never let it happen, they are re-inventing all those age old things again in browser. I have posted a small video response on you tube.

Maybe the presentation is not that smooth or his accent is not the best but he doesn't seem confused to me, and I think he's got a valid point there.

Browser based does not mean everything runs on browser. Display and input happens through browser.

Sounds like one of those people who thought the telephone was bad because it meant people would no longer have to speak face to face. I think the author lacks the big picture. I also think that while he may make on or two valid points, although not well articulated, he fails to point out or at least recognize that there are beneficial trade offs for those features that we lose when we move off the client and into the browser.

Yeah, and also what's with all these critiques of an OS that isn't even out till next year? I guess we should blame the media and attention-hungry bloggers for hyping the whole Chrome OS way out of proportion to get a Google vs. Microsoft behemoth fight angle/story.

Chrome OS is obviously built around the Chrome browser. Having all apps run in a browser seems restrictive for certain classes of applications if you're thinking about HTML 4. Chrome supports HTML 5. HTML 5 webapps have Canvas, SVG, built-in video, etc. HTML 5 webapps will be as good as today's native desktop apps.
