How can you expect anyone to take a language seriously if you call it groovy and name your string type GString.

Rather simple. You limit adoption with a poor choice of name. Brainf**k as a similar problem.

I don't really think that is the case at all. I am pretty much a prude but that didn't stop me from adopting Groovy as a language.

It stopped me.

I am sure a lot of other developers are unwilling to propose the use of something called "Groovy" for a major project. My boss would pack out lauging if I made such a proposal.

My boss is jubilant with the progress of a project and doesn't care about the language name.
