GWT permits the promise of truly portable Rich client code. Here is a demo of a large AJAX code base (the Chronoscope charting engine) which normally runs as compiled Javascript in the browser running unchanged in the Android emulator. A properly designed code base can remain mostly reusable across server/desktop Java, client Javascript, mobile environments, and Flash.
