A friend of mine recently contacted me about my entry called Why Ruby on Rails won't become mainstream and is asking me if I'm still of this opinion. I thought that revisiting this topic would be a good way to start the year, so here goes...

Uhm. I get the feeling the author has never used Rails (or Ruby) in anger. A lot of his arguments against both are things which anyone would face in the first couple of months, but then become completely natural and by no means seem to be 'black magic'. It's simply a question of becoming familiar with a different thought process.

I agree with the above comment.

Besides, I am a Rails Developer and hope that it doesn't become mainstream. I like having a stronger grasp on a niche. :)

(It's pretty mainstream in my opinion though)

Who ever asked him if we wanted it to become mainstream? I just left the mainstream!
