Heroku has launched a public beta for OAuth 2.0 support for the Platform API. OAuth 2.0 support allows developers to control service needs as opposed to offering full service access to all user accounts. With OAuth support, developers building integrations and services that use the Heroku API can provide a much better experience to their users. Instead of using one API key for all third-party services, users can check and revoke authorizations on a case-by-case basis. And users can manage all of their third-party authorizations within their Heroku dashboard.OAuth gives 3rd parties services safe, granular and revocable access to the power of the Heroku Platform API. https://blog.heroku.com/archives/2013/7/22/oauth-for-platform-api-in-public-beta
