Various types of questions were fashionable over the years and it is not clear that they really found the best developers. Consider the old puzzle questions that asks “why are manhole covers round?” Does this tell you anything about the candidates’ coding skills or does it tell you how much the person enjoys a puzzle? Some companies stuck to these puzzle questions as the great proof that a developer was “talented.” Sometimes it worked out and other times it did not.
