Ryan Bates published a great Railscast a while ago showing how he created an advanced search in his Ruby on Rails project. I love his approach and always find it interesting how other people solve the same problem. I did not like, however, that he created an entire search resource in his app and saved all the searches in it and to the database. In many situations, this would be great, however for, say, an administrative app that needed to just search/filter lots of data, I don’t think this is necessary.
