How to display different URL on status bar of hyperlink in all browsers?
you can use this technique if you want to display different url in the addressbar but follow another link on the click of hyperlink. This techniqu is very useful to hide affiliate links in your website. And furthmore, this technique works in all the major browser....

wouldn't this also confuse search engines?

yes you are right this technique is good for search engine...this technique is useful for hiding affiliate links for example just showing affiliate.com instead of affiliate.com/referrer=xxx.

Don't use this technique to show the different domain to addressbar and redirect to another the domain as it will surely confuse the users...

Just a grammar question to the author; why do you let out the articles in your sentences? As far as I can tell it should be "How to display A different URL on THE statusbar..."
