To mathematicians prime numbers represent a certain Nobel challenge. They have been studying prime numbers for a while, trying to learn their properties. Some mathematicians actually made progress. Others have gone insane trying to prove a pattern or how to generate the nth prime. Some are actively looking for the largest prime they can find.
