Who needs Rich Web Applications at all? If you want to avoid HTML use MFC, QBasic, Cobol, ... whatever.

Sorry for the downtime: vector-seven.com has just moved to a new host and I'm having a few teething issues. The post should be back up now, but if anybody else is having problems feel free to drop me a line here.,

And dzonelurker: I don't mean to imply that HTML should be avoided at all costs, just in the cases where time is wasted trying to make it do things it clearly wasn't designed for (i.e. rich UI).

Couldn't vote it up or down because 1) HTML+CSS+Javascript are indeed incredibly annoying and sucky to get right across most prevalent browsers, BUT 2) the "RIA" alternatives throw out the openness and standards that have nurtured the growth of the Web.
