Most problems are not only difficult (like quenching your thirst with no water), but also difficult to define. Understanding the problem space — what constitutes all the parameters needed to solve said problem — is often the real challenge.

A good article. It's easy to backseat drive and suggest kneejerk one-size-fits-all solutions, but it's much more difficult to fully understand the issues facing the decision makers are facing and to properly evaluate their decisions in context. I work at home and I wouldn't have it any other way, but I can't fairly say that Yahoo's new policy is the wrong direction. I'm not the man (or in this case woman) on the spot, and I'm disinclined to puff myself up by second guessing them.
