Not only an alternative. I simply can not find another framework around (not necessarily Java framework) that provides anything like HybridJava MVC component model where each component has it own M, V and C encapsulated into a single Java class instance.

That manages to make even JSP seem graceful by comparison. I'll stick to using Rails for my web work and Java for the heavy lifting, this is a non-starter.
