This article covers a bunch of IDE's and code editors in top 10 format, from the perspective of ME, a Ruby on Rails web-developer. It covers the IDEs I used to use when I wasn't a rails developer too, so it's not like a strictly-rails article. Check it out!

Why so thumbs-downed this time? Just curious, I'm a crap article writer (generally) but I really tried for this one

You mention the word IDE twice in the title of this zone link, and the #1 is not even and IDE (not to mention that it's available only for Mac, but that's less important).

From macromates own description - "Textmate is not an IDE" - I think thats the problem, your #1 pick is not an (I)ntegrated (D)evelopment (E)nvironment. One of the things an IDE integrates is a... text editor.

Didn't I say in the article that textmate isn't an IDE?! The title of the freakin thing is what's the best CODE EDITOR out there. Also, it's true that I didn't like putting an OSX only entry at #1, but at the same time there's a load of good reasons why I did it. I use a linux box too, so I have to have some lin-love close to (or preferably at) #1. Textmate just beats out Komodo, hands down in terms of "I can get my project done faster with..". No windows-love though, and CERTAINLY not at #1. They'd have to EARN that shit. Anyway for anyone who gave me a thumbs-up (or even down), thanks just for looking! Sorry I'm a crap article writer, it was remarkably hard to compile all that data!
