One point is missing here - patent burial - when there is a patent for a technology, that the patent holder does not use in reality, but somebody could. There should be something like patent idle timeout. Great example goes to a lot of alternative energy projects, that are bought by large corporations and left to rot on the shelf. I, my self, have stumbled upon one patent owned by Panasonic in the field they do not have a business, at all. Good idea wasted. :(
