I looked at the install plugin and saw that it is rubbish, so made a separate project with the pom below and the jar to be installed in the same directory as the pom, so that the project pom /is/ the jar pom; putting source code etc. in would not be that hard either:

Hmm, stupid comment server! Just make use of the com.github.goldin:copy-maven-plugin 0.2.5 plugin during the package phase to copy all content to be installed.
