It is with tremendous pleasure that I can reveal Microsoft Silverlight: our next-generation, cross-platform, cross-browser web client runtime. Silverlight (previously codenamed "WPF/E") is a lightweight subset of XAML for building rich media experiences on the web.

If the best way that a product can be described is as a "Foo killer", where Foo is the dominant player in the space with a tremendous headstart, then no, it won't be a disruptive force.
Even with their platform leverage, there isn't enough to get this going past flash.
