Spring Data is a new project announced today at SpringOne 2GX 2010 to support non-relational ('nosql') databases from Spring. This blog post introduces Spring Data and how it supports the Neo4j graph database and easy mixing of JPA and Neo4j (so called 'polyglot persistence').

It is good to add interfaces to middleware, but the 'example' of restaurant recommendations did not illustrate reasons to use a graph database to begin with -- perfectly good use case for relational ! Furthermore, the relational model shown was half-baked and not exactly representative of how a relational approach would handle it.
