Does your team use Visual Source Safe? Does your team plan on using VSS this year? Chances are, you are– at least based upon the data from VSoft Technologies, who found that the majority of their survey respondents (about 400) are still using VSS or planning on using it.

The answer to that question is an emphatic YES.

But, it would be better to upgrade to subversion or some other tool.

Good topic, but the article is really light on details. I'm using VSS here and won't be switching in the near future.

VSS is alright for very small teams, as long as you back up your repository often.

For large teams that are working from seperate locations, it's much better to go with something else that doesn't corrupt so easily, and supports proper branching and tagging.... subversion works great.

The "article" does not say anything on how to do it, why to do it. It feels like an ugle plug for TFS
