Writer of this article definitely didn't know the difference between Structured data and unstructured document

The article is garbage but it is important to know why. The author has no concept of context. Relational databases will be around forever, but the web provides new challenges that require new technology. The technologies are not in competition. The context for relational stuff is well understood. The web is a new context and so may require new tools.

Oh, there's also not single new idea in the blog, but what the heck :)

Unfortunately, many wrong statements. The big one is on unanticipated associations. Unanticipated associations are easy to add through association tables. This is standard practice. "Too many tables" not considered poor relational database design- it's called normalization. Poor design to have too few as well- depends on app. And any particular vendor's limit on number of objects in a schema can't be taken as an indictment of the relational model as a whole.

There are things an RDBMS doesn't do well, but they're not really covered in this article.
