Finally, some very good news for the Java community. For those who were worried about the future of Java on OSX, don't worry: Apple have just announced that they will be working with Oracle on the OpenJDK project. Apple will contribute most of the key components, tools and technology required for Java SE 7 on Mac OS X.

In these desperate days I try Linux Mint, in order to replace my beloved OSX as my Java Development platform...
Linux Mint is an incredible Distro Linux, very polished, My mom could use this for his work... but the font rendering on IntelliJ is two awful for serious working. My eyes will be bleeding in a pair of hours

agree intellij rendering sucks in linux.

Actually, Apple will support Java throughout the specified support period or service lifetime of an OS X release [1].
What Apple has said was that no Java will be bundled with the next OS X release.

The news I was waiting for. Absolutely brilliant, I'm over the moon really!
It would have helped A LOT if they simply published this BEFORE that vague deprecation notice. That would have earned them a lot of goodwill from developers. Happy I kept my Mac though :)

Owe, i have already emailed all my clients to stay away from Apple products.

i think apple devs are more likely to throw out java than their macs
