Even though I officially run with a different crew in the Java’hood, so to speak, I honestly wanted to be amazed by the JavaFX preview release. I wanted it to be some substance to back up all the chest-thumping grandstanding since last year’s JavaOne. It wasn’t.

If you like to look at more demos, check Chris Oliver's blog(http://blogs.sun.com/chrisoliver/). The FX team should have showcased more demos.

I agree. Since the transition of F3 to JavaFX, the quality of demos has gone down. I made an assessment based on what is current. I think the state of JFX is in a bad place if they haven't been able to produce any high quality demos in the year of chest-thumping faux fanfare.

What bugs me in the most demos I've seen so far is the constant use of Ocean. Nimbus looks awesome, and if you don't wanna use it because not everybody has Java 1.6u10 then Substance leaves no excuse. When I see a demo with Ocean, it feels like the author just doesn't care.
