Many believe that JavaFX is too little too late for Sun to become a player in the rich client space, but I think that if Java 6 U10 is successful that Sun will be making it's critics eat their words.

LOL... Java rich clients sucks hard on Linux. Everything from key bindings to mouse events are HORRIBLE (I can't use horizontal scrolling on my multitouch pad on my macbook, and it ignores my native key bindings set by pomme). Not to mention that compiz has to be disabled unless you enjoy blank gray dialog boxes. IT SIMPLY DOESN'T WORK. Sun's had 13 years to take the Linux desktop, and they haven't. Instead developers write rich client Linux apps in Python against GTK+. JavaFX and JavaFXScript is the biggest waste of code and the worst branding nightmare to come from Sun since CMP and EJBQL. Hilarious.

I still have trouble getting basic Java 1.4 Web Start applications to work on my Linux box so... please excuse me for remaining highly skeptical until proven otherwise.
