XML is perhaps the worst programming language ever conceived. I’m not talking about XML as a data-description language, which was its original design. I’m talking about perverting XML for programming applications.

So he's accussing Java specification leads as being programming dilletantes? Not quite sure... I do think certain areas are over-reliant on XML, Hibernate might be a good example, since a modern mapping file can have virtually no information it really needs, but I think Ant is a well done thing; moreover, Ant is really easy to use! I've never had a problem with it, I'm not sure why people keep fussing over it.

xml should be completely done away with! The earlier properties file was good and easy. EJB ( cmp & bmp) are meeting so much resistance only because
of the messy xml files.
Experts should come out with a better solution. No. Not with annotation but with some decent and safe scripting aid.
