Just-in-time compilers for number crunching in Python
Python is an extremely popular language for number crunching and data analysis. For someone who isn't familiar with the scientific Python ecosystem this might be surprising, since Python is actually orders of magnitude slower at simple numerical operations than most lower level languages.
