Very few people actually know from where the word “Kernal” came about. Here’s a good overview: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kernal. When I was designing and coding this core class in GridGain I named it Kernal (vs. the usual spelling – Kernel) to have an Easter-egg dedicated to one of the best PC ever built and my personal favorite – Commodore 64.
