I like people who have no understanding of the average Joe, but preach to him anyway. They’re cute and their naivety is endearing in a certain way.

He's the one without a clue. Jason's essay made a great point about striking a balance with your worklife and leaving room for personnal enrichment.
the author may have a revulsion for flight, foreign or freedom. FYI, spending one's life in one's basement getting fat in front of video games is not being a "regular Joe".

I disagree with him completely too.>>He missed the point about it being more about freelancers who can complete a project in a cheaper place whilst enjoying a holiday.>br>I did it for 3 years from 2001-2004, so I know what Jason's essay made sense.>>I reckon nerdbucket is jealous and would take a wild guess that he hasn't travelled much or worked as a freelancer.

Jason's essay said nobody had any excuse not to take 6-9 months off after losing their job, assumed everybody in IT had "a lousy" $10,000, and spoke of owning a home and having a family as if they were a plague.
Striking balance is a very important thing, and I think everybody should have a way to release their stress, especially when they lose a job they need to pay the bills. But some people cannot take that kind of time off and shouldn't be ridiculed by a snob because of it.
