It is obvious that we live in interesting times for programming languages. But are they interesting enough? What are the current trends in cutting edge programming languages?

There will be not revolution, the only option that I see capable but maybe in the next decade is Scala, maybe is the next best thing. This kind of blogs sounds like the Linux on the desktop, every year since 1998 i hear it is the Linux year and that year Linux on the desktop doesn't arrive yet so imagine for a programming language maybe as one commenter said more than 2 decades?.

Better I go back to code my project in "Java" and be done but really JCP, Java folks or whatever is there release please Java7 with Closures it is all what Java needs.
