I'm consistently impressed by the how devoted the prototype userbase is to the library, especially when it fails. This is good and bad. Somehow prototype has cultivated a religion around some utility functions! I believe this is because front-end prior to prototype was largely dominated by scripters who didn't know how to script, and thus weren't able to conceive of developing in a reusable manner; thus prototype blew away their minds. Who knows.
