Pointless. Unless you are sized as Google it makes no sense to limit yourself. Use whatever works.

Hardly pointless. Some of us work for large companies, where if everyone used their own favorite language it would be impossible to maintain each other's code. If you don't work for such a company, feel free to spend your time reading other articles written for contractors and employees in small IT departments, knowing that not everyone is in the same situation as yourself.

It's not about limiting yourself, it's about limiting your company. When you are learning languages, let the sky be the limit on where you personally stop learning in languages/tools/frameworks. However, I can attest that the company has very few places to go besides bankrupt if you expand your production code to accept as many languages as possible. Maintenance is the biggest reason for this. Finding and employing new developers to your team with a requirements list of expertise in more languages limits you just as much.
It's hard to argue against this blog entry in terms of a business standpoint. I'm willing to discuss good reasons against it, but I just don't see any.
