I had often thought about implementing a Lisp interpreter, but back in the “old days”, the thought of implementing garbage collection and the whole runtime thing was a bit daunting. This was in the day before C, so my implementation language would have been assembler … yech.

sfranklyn and marike00, I'd love to know why you're voting against the link. (Sometimes I think dzone should put up a set of 4-6 choices for why something voted down and make the voter pick one ... maybe even do something similar for the votes for a link)

Yeah, I can't help but wonder why someone would vote this down. Matz has acknowledged being inspired by Lisp (just go read Paul Graham's site for more). Seeing a working implementation in Ruby is pretty cool. It's cool hackery if just for hackerdom's sake. +1 from me.
