ZDNET Big Data blogger and Microsoft regional director Andrew Brust has written an overview on developing Hadoop applications for Windows. He outlines what's available e.g. the Hortonworks Data Platform for Windows and a related Windows Azure solution as well as discussing the Microsoft SDK and Outercurve Foundation’s open source NuGet packages that integrate into Visual Studio projects. These tools will enable developers to integrate Big Data functionality into their line-of business applications, Brust said.
