A bunch of Apache Maven core commitors branch off to turn Maven into an enterprise-strength platform, as well as solve the ridiculous learning curve currently required for converting to a Maven build system. Also: free Maven book.

It's good that they're trying to bring some sanity to the Maven learning process, but I wonder if it's too late?
Kinda like modern day Smalltalk or List evangelists - those languages may be great, but is there any hope of supplanting the "proven" languages like Java?
With any luck, the free book might do for Maven what the Pragmatic Programmer did for Ruby*. Time will tell.
*Before Rails that is.

Not everyone has the choice on whether or not to use Java... in the grand scheme of things, Maven is becoming like Ruby Gems, which is really a large part of it's success.
