Microsoft Corp. announced the availability of the software development kit (SDK) for the Microsoft® .NET Micro Framework. With its ability to work seamlessly with Visual Studio®, the .NET Micro Framework extends the power of Microsoft’s embedded offerings into the realm of smaller, less expensive and more resource-constrained devices.

please, let's try to keep dzone from becoming another /. or digg, filled with immature shouting matches over preferred technologies. there's plenty of room in the world for multiple development frameworks, and just because you prefer one doesn't make the others by definition any worse.
besides, it's not as if this is the first time that .NET has been available for devices. .NET CF (for mobile devices) has been around for four years now.[0] furthermore, embedded java hasn't actually been around for ten years. the spec was completed 8-1/2 years ago.[1]
