It is reported that Microsoft has sent an email to DirectX/XNA MVPs which informs them that they are no longer needed because XNA and DirectX are no longer evolving. What does this mean? If you don't need MVPs then presumably you anticipate nothing to support in the future. A follow up email (http://www.i-programmer.info/news/144-graphics-and-games/5410-microsoft-confirms-xna-is-dead-but-directx-is-ok.html) reveals that XNA is dead and probably so are other DirectX APIs but Direct2D/3D is ok in some form or other.
