Mike Stonebraker wants to do away with SQL, disks, and almost everything about Oracle. He endorses Ruby, stored procedures, and a radical new database research project called H-Store, designed to run single-threaded and entirely in RAM.

Pipe dream. Languages come and go, databases do not because data is more valuable than code. There is an alternative to ACID called BASE now, but it is a LOT more complicated and is so far confined to the likes of eBay and Amazon who have hundreds (thousands?) of developers to throw at those complexities.
