The open-source implementation of Microsoft's .NET is due to hit its second release today, with many .NET 3.5 features and a few notable exceptions.
Mono 2.0 will be announced today a year and a half later than expected but - thanks to that delay - it features an open-source version of C# 3.0 and Language Integrated Query (LINQ).

Who really use Mono?, It a waste of time this project. I feel sorry for Miguelito a lot of effort for nothing, If I was him I would started with a new Virtual machine and new programming language maybe was better that path than just bring a semi M$ .Net framework to the Linux world that nobody wants to touch it.

You kidding? Ignore for a fact that Microsoft is behind initial research and specification, the Mono project can stand on its own. Look at Banshee, TomBoy, Beagle, F-spot to name a few.
