How about judging a person as an individual rather than sweeping generalisations and stereotypes that do nothing to promote our industry?

Well, TroubleX, that would suggest that there are no broad categories that individuals fit into. Like, we could no longer talk about "soccer moms" or "type A personalities" or "hippies." Instead, everyone must be viewed as a completely unique person. In that case, there would be no way to talk about sweeping trends in industry or society. Surely, some hippies were loving while others were selfish, but the overall 'hippie" label remains a useful (while admittedly, limited) shorthand for a larger trend.
