Seems a little fishy to me. If you look at Dice for example, you'll notice that there are:
15,112 jobs that match the keyword "java", while there are only 9,654 jobs that match the keyword ".net"
There is a much higher demand for (and usage of) Java skills in the industry than .NET -- at least for now.
