Recent NetBeans versions 6.1 and 6.5 seems to have become much more I/O-bound. Not surprisingly, "more features requires more work" the defense goes which is true and fair enough. However, I decided I wanted to have my cake (speed) and eat it too (features) and this is at least one way to archive just that, if you are on Linux and have some RAM to spare.
