I wrote a Ruby on Rails Notes & To-do manager; it has four sections: the "Pages" section is similar to that of 37signals' Backpack, the "Tabs" is a searchable archive of notes, "Notepad" is a temporary text storage space, "Chat" is a simple chat application. It is available as Open Source under the Reciprocal Public License. You can download version 0.1 now. Firefox recommended.
