Opinion -- I love free software. I use open-source programs and operating systems every day. But once in a while, I want to take some free software developers and shake them until their teeth rattle.

Agreed. Total nonsense. Someone should give RMS and other FOSS fanatics a huge kick in the head. And I hope this "IceWeasel" project won't live for long.

All that will happen is that EasyUbuntu and Automatix and other similar scripts will have a new option to uninstall iceweasel and install the official Firefox.

IceWeasel has to be the stupidest name I've ever heard, though. That's what somebody should get kicked in the head for.

I think this is probably the stupidest idea Debian has ever had. Why fork the entire codebase if you can just replace a single resource file? And in case you've never tried, it really is just three image files. Personally, I'm not going to use iceweasel. What about the rest of you?

And they wonder why Debian disappears in Ubuntu's shadow even though Ubuntu is based on Debian.

When I see such a big box of stupid, I tremble.

Ubuntu cannot live without Debian's foundation ... Ubuntu is Debian.
All the things that make Ubuntu great, are from Debian ... like the huge software repository, or the software packages that just work, or the great community.

If Debian wants to fork Mozilla ... I don't see a problem.
In such a case both Debian and Firefox get what they want.
And I for one see good reasons why Debian is right.

Please come back and speak about open-source with the big boys when you're old enough ;)
And btw ... do you even know what a fork is ?

Yes, we know. Or at least I certainly do. I've put pictures and source code out under various Creative Commons and open source licenses for about five years now. And you?

Somehow I doubt it ;)
But I have to believe you, I mean, if you say so :)

Don't worry ... nobody will notice your missing pubes.

[ Oh please, don't mod me down again ... I'm so scared :)) ]
